New Year, New Direction

As the year comes to an end and I reflect on how things went this year and look forward to things to come I'm thankful for the experiences so far. This year was stellar and by far was due to my fans supporting me and people who came to shows, and my band for backing me up in all of this. I've become very active in the local music scene here in Colorado and it's been so much fun. I don't think I realized how much I LOVE concerts before this year. Sure I've gone to tons of shows before but I saw so many bands this year that it was unreal.

I love attending and performing but seeing some of the local talent that Colorado has to offer has given me a new appreciation for local music. There are so many bands in city's all over the world, If you don't usually go out and are looking for something to do I would say local concerts are a perfect way to spend an evening. You would be surprised what new music and new band you might find and fall in love with! I'm so excited about this next year. Watching the story unfold from my side of things is very interesting and I can see great things on the horizon, and great concerts to attend too!

I keep having this dream about a show. In the dream, I wake up in the afternoon from my phone ringing. I look at the date and the clock on my phone and I'm late for the show of my lifetime. The phone call is from one of my bandmates asking if I am on my way. I have 1 hour to get to the show and I live 1.5 hours away! Damn, I'm late for load-in! What is interesting about this dream is the concert is always at red rocks. Our first time playing red rocks no less! (Trust me I would not be late for THAT show. I would be way too excited for that!). I never know who the bandmate on the phone is and I remember that I can feel the weight of my amp in one of my hands as I walk up to the stage to help the crew load in. I look out from the stage view and see all the bleachers. No fans just yet and I put down my equipment, close my eyes, and breath in. The sky slightly overcast and the air crisp and cool due to the incoming clouds above. A light gust of air blows through the trees that sit atop each platform at the venue on either side of the bleachers. The sun moves high in the sky, providing hot and adequate light that flickers off the slightly silver-green sheen of the juniper trees. The aura of this dream is very dense. Like a lot is going on that night. Like everything is reaching towards that moment. Like my career has taken me there, to that point in time, and that this wasn't the last amazing place I'd play. Then the dream ends with me waking up again the day of the event, and I'm running late for load-in. That's when I rise, awakened by the horror of being late for THAT gig.

I haven't quite deciphered what that means, or why that dream keeps happening but I hope it's foreshadowing the future. I'd rather be late to that gig and still have it than never get the chance to reach that level. I've got a lot going on with my music right now between my band and our shows, writing new music, teaching, and possibly joining another group, and working on a collaboration with another artist I've been busy and I'm sure that may have something to do with this. It is strange, however. Why that venue? Why that time of year? Why am I late?

I don't know if that dream is due to the fact that I've been working on writing from my soul again or my busy schedule. The interesting thing about that is my soul is taking me on a journey through the songs I'm writing. I have started the process to change things in a more alternative music direction. In doing so I'm bringing up feelings I haven't sat with in a long time. I will still be playing blues rock at shows but I'm going to be adding in some more heavy rock. I have an affliction for alternative, pop punk, and metal. All of these directions will be explored in the new year with the new releases and I'm very excited to push forward in this direction. The songs that have been written so far are excellent and I'm very ready for them to be recorded and out to you already! But I do think an album may be in order and maybe even a small vinyl press of records. More on that to come in the upcoming new year!

I thank all of you for being with me on this journey. Things are starting to come together and I think this summer I'm going to be very busy but also very satisfied with life. I thank every one of you for that.

Be sure to get onto the mailing list for this month behind the scenes content. I'm going to be serving up some concert content on how things get organized during all of this to make a show happen. There is a lot that goes into it and I'm excited for you all to see it so make sure you are a part of that! You don't want to miss out on all the goodies within that thing! Behind The Scenes clips are for mailing list members only and not shared on social media. My new Vlog series will also be included for members each month as well so sign up now so you don't miss out on anything!

Thank you for reading

Until next time,

~Bryce
